Can Chocolate Kill Free Radicals?

Let’s face it, if you haven’t heard of antioxidants, you are probably living under a rock! These days just about everyone is aware that there are free radicals which damage our cells and that antioxidants absorb these, preventing decay and disease inside of our bodies.
Which means, if you are at all health conscious, you have at least looked at antioxidants to maintain health and vitality. Given that antioxidants are essential to keep you healthy and fit, where should you get your quota from?
Fruits & Vegetables
Authorities tell us that we should eat up to 9 servings of fruits and vegetables each and every day for good health. In the US the number has been bumped up to 15 servings and I would expect Australia to follow suite as our fresh produce continues to decline in quality. The fact is that soil quality, over cultivation, use of artificial fertilizers and agricultural chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, and heavy metals from groundwater, all reduce the nutrition in our fresh food, while increasing the toxic burden on our bodies.
Processed Food
Of course, you know it is even worse at the supermarket. We now have breakfast cereals, some have less nutrients than the box, with little nutrition. Clever marketers add various vitamins and minerals in an isolated, artificial form, and then claim the benefits of those vitamins. It does not mean these added vitamins and minerals have any positive effect on your body chemistry. Worse still is the dairy industry. Cow’s milk actually leeches calcium from the body. Green leafy vegetables or concentrates provide bio-available calcium to build strong bones.
Antioxidants And Chocolate
Whichever way you look at it, free radicals do play a part in whether we are fit and well. Numerous studies show the immense benefits of antioxidants, from heart care to fitness and endurance. Recently, I was at a conference for a green concentrated juice I promote, and the presenter was boasting about the antioxidant content. They mentioned an ORAC of 891 per serving. ORAC is the international standard by which antioxidants are measured, and to most people this value would seem pretty good. But not to me!
When looking at various foods, raw cacao powder has an ORAC of around 95,500 per 100 grams, while Goji Berries, renowned for antioxidant capability, have just 25,400 per 100 grams. Yes, it is a lot higher than 891, but it goes further. Chava Vital Chocolate had such a high ORAC value that the head of Brunswick Labs, who test all products for ORAC, spoke at a conference I recently attended in Las Vegas. He praised Chava as the single highest source of antioxidants on the planet!
The Bottom Line On Antioxidants
Chava has an antioxidant rating of 27,308 per piece, and the recommendation is 2-3 pieces a day! Add to that at least 663mg of flavanoids, a special mood enhancing natural infusion and 5 drops of activated liquid zeolite per piece and it may explain why eating 2-3 pieces of Chava a day can make such a positive difference in health and vitality.
If you have read my other posts on Chava, you know that I had a great improvement in performance on the rowing machine, lowering of blood pressure and more mobility on the Tennis court. I just changed my exercise routine, and it includes running on the treadmill. I monitored my heart rate after a 15 minute workout and it peaked at 147 with no visual effects. I reckon at 59 years old, that is pretty good! The other main benefit to me is that I feel more positive 15-30 minutes after eating a couple of pieces, so it improves my relationships as well!
I am a firm believer in Chava, especially taken over a period of time. Eat 2-3 a day for at least a month and notice the difference.
